Included in the Roman Empire of the East, these provinces became one of the theaters of the great invasions: that of the Slavic ones - assimilatrice -, to the VI E and VII E centuries, leads to their permanent installation. Many and turned into a sedentary population, they imposed their language, of Indo-European origin.
Isolated from European civilization during the long Othoman occupation, this remote stage of the East-Express train, unhappy heroin of the Balkan wars of the beginning of the XX E century, were still an underdeveloped country when the “iron curtain” locked up it in the socialist camp.
