Son junior by the capétien Robert the Fort, governor of lower Burgundy, then duke of France, it recognized the authority of the Charles Carolingian first of all the Simple one and drove out Norman Ile-de-France.

In 922, he was elected king by the noble ones revolted against Charles the Simple one, but he perishes close to Soissons, in a combat against the Carolingian.
