Very popular federal adviser, in favor of the accession of Switzerland in the European Union, Delamuraz fought for the entry in European Economic space (EEE), rejected in voting in 1992, then engaged in favor of the conclusion of the bilateral agreements. He also stuck to the reform of the agricultural policy and the liberalization of the interior market. With acceptance by the people of adhesion with OMC in 1996, it gained one of greatest successes of its career.
